I use the fenceless pasture "bushes" to give the visual impression of what you're asking for. I set up a field of X grain next to it, and I create my own "story" based on that.
What I would really love is a pasture that can be smaller than 7x7 (i have a mod that is supposed to offer greater size options, but nothing goes less than 7x7 that I use), so I can create a visual "animal stall" next to my little outposts & field.
