Dev Update...




You might have noticed I've been updating all mods lately. Well, I only have two more to go. 1 is done, the storage mod, I just got to wait until I'm in good internet range to upload it. The second, the Pine Set, is actually quite close. I've re-made a load of the models to give the houses especially more height. This should help them to fit in with other mods. Hopefully you will have noticed this with the Sherbrooke set, everything is bigger than it was, and I think it does look better.




Now with the Pine Set, it is so big, I have to play through a few times to make sure I didn't cock anything up. Then I'll probably put it up for a quick BETA so you can have a go and see if I missed anything. 




In the mean time while I am finishing things up, I was having a test and thought hmm, you know what would look good here? Diagonal cabins...

i think she ment ANNE OF GREEN GABLES and you can get it from (link removed). there seems to be a few versions of it going back to 1986.  and it is free there,shhh

Check your CBC channel, if you have one, it may be listed there?  It's odd that Netflix doesn't have it.  Weird.




It is a bit dry and there are a lot of monologues in it, but so far, 3 episodes in and I am enjoying it so far.  It was a little heavy, but it's finding it's groove [img]<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile.png[/img]/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" title=":)" width="20" />  Certainly worthwhile watching it if you can just for the environment and panoramic shots [img]<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile.png[/img]/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" title=":)" width="20" />  The area is lovely and they production crew has done an amazing job getting the frames, just right!! Problem is, I don't have a TV. You can watch it on CBC.ca but their streaming isn't as good as Netflix... some how Netflix does some magic that allows a show to buffer even on the slowest of internet connections, and keeps playing when the internet drops out. Other streaming services are pretty much un watchable.

Thanks to <a contenteditable="false" data-ipshover="" data-ipshover-target="<___base_url___>/index.php?/profile/14007-tanypredator/&do=hovercard" data-mentionid="14007" href="<___base_url___>/index.php?/profile/14007-tanypredator/">@tanypredator</a> at WOB I have been working on some compatibility patches for New Flora and others so that they can work well together and we don't have to continue to choose between mods. There are two patches, one is for flax and will make the New Flora flax chain compatible with all other flax chains, and the other patch is specifically for the Pine Set so that all New Flora and Pine Set natural resources are present on the map. I've not tested it with Nat Div yet, but I can only assume awesomeness when I do.

Ugh, poxy tv signals!  Possibly because Netflix is all about the profit line they can afford to invest millions into development, and of course they're now nominated for a swag of different awards as the 'internet station', (oh my that caused a stink according to some tabloids, how dare they be considered for an XYZ award, it's all crap really, lol), so they just put money into content and infrastructure.  Our own ABC (not to be confused with the US ABC), is Govt funded so I doubt a lot of money gets put into streaming ...  I digress, lol ...  Pay TV politics and all that ... moving on, haha.




Re Dev updates:  Oh wow, <a contenteditable="false" data-ipshover="" data-ipshover-target="<___base_url___>/index.php?/profile/5518-necora/&do=hovercard" data-mentionid="5518" href="<___base_url___>/index.php?/profile/5518-necora/">@Necora</a> that's really something else!  I haven't minded having to have my mods set in 1 order to have the best of both worlds (somedays you just can't have double olives on a meatball sub, you have to be picky [img]<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/sad.png[/img]/emoticons/sad@2x.png 2x" title=":(" width="20" /> ), but, now - I won't have to choose?  How brilliant [img]<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/biggrin.png[/img]/emoticons/biggrin@2x.png 2x" title=":D" width="20" />

Hello all,




Now the Pine Set is in a Beta test, I'm nearly done with updating all mods. I hope people are testing it out for me! I need your feedback.




The storage has a couple of new types added which I showed a while ago, a dry storage and a tool shed. Here they are for a refresher...

I can't wait, so very excited to see PR coming along, I always did love this set, and it fit perfectly in other areas of my villages and outposts as well. Because I scattered my BETA notes in a couple of different comments over on WoB, I think I should compact them here, just to keep it with the original WIP thread as well.




1)  I love the work on the Pine Set, the buildings are excellent, and the little touch in the height is a nice touch.

I love the new diagonal houses, and think that they fit perfectly, and I've been enjoying building them




2)  There are a couple of little bugs, but so far no game crashers, it's just odd bits, easily fixed. [img]<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile.png[/img]/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" title=":)" width="20" />



3)  I don't have numbers for you, I've got screenshots, but not numbers, sorry.

Ok, bugs:

1)  The Colourful Pine Cabins, when you upgrade them, they become diagonal houses, no biggie (they still work), just cosmetically and town planning wise, it's a bit of a doozy, oops.

2)  The eggs are back (or weren't they squashed previously, I can't remember - but I do remember we talked about it), the "Eggs" vs "Egg" in the code.  Again, it's not a game crasher but they can't be used in any recipes - not compatible

And yes, I terraformed right to the edge of the map - it was over 40 tiles deep in some places!! Ugh, what a waste!!  It however caused a glitch, I couldn't figure out why I had a rogue forest on the other side of the map, and then it occurred to me, that it was an 'overflow' of some kind.  I stuck a gatherer out there and sure enough, it worked [img]<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/biggrin.png[/img]/emoticons/biggrin@2x.png 2x" title=":D" width="20" />

A few more Port Royal teasers...




Joining up with the bakery, blacksmith, tailor, and mill we now have some row houses. There are single story, small houses for 4, over handing two story houses for 4 to be build above the small ones, a two story central house (both floors) that takes a family of 5, and 3 versions of a corner house that takes a family of 6.




I have quite a few things remaining in this set, and am not sure if I will finish them before I leave. But I'll wait on releasing it in case I do manage to get the time to finish some more up.

1)  I couldn't find the original post, but I've asked somewhere, either here, WoB or in PM-  and I wanted to double back to it.

In the next PEI release, or if you don't wish to update may I please have a single file, an inclusion of the original shaped PEI Edibles Storage, with the excellent walkway?  That scoop was a fave of mine [img]<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile.png[/img]/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" title=":)" width="20" />

The below are just things that popped out whilst scrolling through, seeing if you had thought any further?




1)  The storage, you uploaded the pics the other day , then I found a similar comment back in April, and we talked about adding a couple more colours to the new storage:  The colours from the PEI set, orange & 2 timbers.  Is this still a possibility please?




2)  Food production: Sherbrooke or Port Royal  I'm still keen for a basic Food/Mess Hall (soup spot, camp oven etc), that just uses entry level items (Vanilla & Pine Set):  herb crusted lamb, beef & mushrooms, chicken & berry, veggie soup (mushrooms + onions + roots), wild berry sorbet (all the new berries), game stew, and if including the New Flora mod with Wild Oats & honey, then that can expand again to include flour based recipes; all things found by gatherers from the map.  There are excellent food mods avail, but some require Farmed produce (wheat, beans, corn etc) and with the roll of the dice, some maps don't come with those seeds - whereas a Kitchen that uses straight Gathered items can be a kicker!!

Also:  a small dairy to churn the milk into goodies




I know food has been a discussion lately, and it's not everyone's idea of 'awesome', just throwing out some ideas, seeing if any stick, to use the base resources in an interesting uptick [img]<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/smile.png[/img]/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" title=":)" width="20" />



I found some pretty old screenshots when I went looking in my folder, had to clean it up!  I can see the difference (in a good way) from the original sets to the current ones, wow, you've done exceptionally well for only a few months at this! [img]<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/biggrin.png[/img]/emoticons/biggrin@2x.png 2x" title=":D" width="20" />
