Old people
#1

I'm getting really annoyed with old people clogging up the houses so no new kids are born making half my population die at the same time without having replacements. One fix that I'm not sure is possible but would feel historically accurate is to allow three generations per house, the wife moves in to her husbands house while he is still living with his parents.

Another solution That feels like it should be doable (I have never done any modding myself) is to have retirement homes, after reaching a certain age you move in to a retirement home which is filled with supplies by working caretakers. It would also be appropriate to limit the production of pensioners, maybe halving it.

I like both of these ideas /emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" title=":)" width="20" />  Not sure if it could be done though.  Love the 3 family houses, but there is debate on whether the youngest couple would have more than 1 child.

I currently have to make sure I have 0 builders then go alone and 'destroy' rows of houses at a time, I normally do it when the nomads arrive, before accepting them, then wait a sec for the system to update, then accept the nomads.  I then wait for all houses to be emptied (but not destroyed, only builders destroy them, on my maps anyway, I can't guarantee it, hence the 0 builders), then I wait for everything to be emptied, then go through and 'cancel demolition' a couple of houses at a time making sure they are a couple under 40, or at least a large family, anyone over 40 must be in a large family already, or married to a young partner.

It's a PITA (pain in the ----) but it's how I do it once I see too many single or non-producing households.

I am sure there are a bunch of other members who have great ideas /emoticons/biggrin@2x.png 2x" title=":D" width="20" />

No. Things affecting how the citizens act (where they live, which job they have, where they decide to put storage) aren't moddable by the modkit.

That's what I thought /emoticons/sad@2x.png 2x" title=":(" width="20" />  Which is why noone has done it yet.

What a shame a house or building can't also run an age check, like the flags for items, where a specialised cart has food only, the building could be 50+ only. /emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x" title=":)" width="20" />

Oh my, could you imagine all the retirement mods, create little retirement villages, some happiness radius events, yahtzee, bridge, game tables, bowls too...  oh the fun!!

So, for now, it's manually clearing out houses and forcing the game to recouple for the housing.  bah.

if we could, it would have been made since very long time because this is something everyone ask since 2 years.

what aging mod are you using? what sie houses? how many laborers do you keep? nomads??  there are several things to do to control the population. one is to build houses more than you need. this will cause the family to split but increase its overall size. mom takes half the kids but can still reproduce. if you happen to be building houses that only house 3 ,then yes you will not grow. another idea i use, is to take the adult population and divide by 2 that gives the number of houses. you will need to watch the food limit since this should give a good constant growth rate.

If you are having large die-offs, it's because you are building too many houses at one time. That results in a bunch of kids being born at one time, then a spike in kids going to school, then a bunch of graduates needing houses again.  Try building just 3 or so houses a year - or at least just a few each season. If you are accepting Nomads, leave them in the Boarding House as you add just a few houses at a time.  When you see a bunch of old people are getting up there in age, stop building more houses since you know some will soon be available.  All those old people are still productive workers.  More kids isn't the only thing a town needs.

Can we request to the game's dev to do this aging modding option on the next game update ?

I don't know if we can talk with him, request something to him, if he listen to us about that. But, if he does, it could be interesting.

This idea of retirement houses is really awesome. I need it ! /emoticons/laugh@2x.png 2x" title="xD" width="20" />
