Ale was an important source of nutrition in medieval times. A mild version, also called “table beer” or “small beer,” contained just enough alcohol to act as a preservative, and provided hydration without intoxication. Almost everyone drank this mild ale every day, including children, as water was often not safe to drink.  Ale with more alcohol content was served for recreational purposes.




Ale is a luxury and is stocked at a Tavern, the Inn & Garden or the Coffee House. It adds to the happiness of your people.




Ale is made from the following without any other ingredients:


  • Blueberries

  • Cherries

  • Peaches

  • Pears

  • Pumpkins

  • Wheat

  • Oats
