Introduced in Colonial Charter 1.6, Iron Ore replaces the original Iron from the unmodded game as the form of Iron that is picked up off surface of your map by your laborers, or mined from a mine.
Iron Ore has many uses:
- To Build a Blacksmith, you need Iron Ore + Logs + Stone. It is the only building that needs Iron Ore for construction.
- The Blacksmith, Large Smithy, Rural Smithy and Dock Workshop can use Iron Ore + Logs to make Rough Tools.
- The Large Smithy and Rural Smithy can make Steel Tools from Iron Ore + Coal + Log
- The Forge, Foundry or Small Iron Smelter can convert Iron Ore + Furnace Fuel into Iron.
- The Forge and Foundry can make Steel Tools using Iron Ore and Coal.
