Spices and Herbs

Banished modding being what it is, I thought I would revive some old ideas for implementing spices in the game. I can see three solutions.




One, to have spices basically be a food that is consumed by people in their houses.




Two, have species be a luxury item and consumed by people in the tavern. This can be done by growing various spices like cinnamon, cloves, and pepper and then using the curing shed to make them into a generic spice resource which is consumed.




Three, have spices used like salt as ingredients in things like pub food, medicines, and breads.




Each approach has its advantages and downsides. I personally think having spices as a generic luxury produced in the curing shed from various spice crops is the best solution. This could also be expanded to encapsulated herbs, which can be dried as "cooking herbs" and maybe add a salt refinery to produce "table salt" or "redefined salt" which is consumed like a luxury.
