Banished crashing regularly since installing MegaMod 8
#1
Hello, I've tried searching the internet and these forums for a resolution, but alas, am not having any luck.

I recently installed the Megamod 8 and enjoying it, but after a few in-game years it just crashes.

Specific crash: "A fatal access violation has occurred in Application-x64.exe and the game cannot continue! A crash dump has been saved to E:\Banished\crash.dmp."

I do have the Megamod 8.01 and Banished 1.0.7 (Build 170910). My mods are in the correct order. My game was not purchased from Steam.

Set up: Graphics Interface: DirectX 11 (normally when I don't switch it to 9)
Resolution: 1680x1050, Refresh Rate: 59hz, Multisampling 8x MSAA, Texture Filter: Trilinear, Shadow Resolution: Medium, Shadow Quality: Medium, Reflections: Terrain. Fullscreen and VSync are checked.

I've tried starting a new game...repeatedly. But eventually each town faces the same dramatic crash fate.

I've tried selecting DX9 at the start menu. Still crashes.

The previous version of Megamod was functioning fine, the crashing started with version 8.

Any suggestions or insight would be very helpful. I love playing Banished and the new version 8 mega mods really add so much more fun to the game.

I recommend just moving to 9. They aren't going to troubleshoot issues with 8.

MegaMod 8.01 is the current edition. 9 is just in beta and is probably too big for most systems.

There are regularly "I crash with MM" reports, but it's so huge we've never really pinpointed where the crash comes from, especially since that error message sometimes happens on crash even in vanilla Banished. It's pretty annoying. Wish the error messages were more helpful.

Did you clean the old Megamod from your Windata folder? Did you Disable old MM cleanly from your main menu before removing it? Can you try removiong all the old saves that used the old MM from your save folder?

Are you starting to produce a specific item for the first time when the crashes happen? Or building something, the crashes happening just as it's finished?

Have you built bridge that don't have at least one square of road on each side to make sure no tree ever breaks pathing? placed a building where terraforming when all materials are gathere might break pathing on a square?

If you have a save made just a short time before a crash point, can you load it, unemploy absolutely everyone and see if you can get past that crashing point?

MM9 still has issues, so I would wait a bit with that
