Disappearing food bug? CC 1.76
#1
Hi, I'm new Wink  Trying CC for first time and encountering a game-breaking bug. Playing Hard setting, and as soon as the first house is built (I chose the Tiny Shack), they take all 100 firewood from the wagon to the house (so pretty much game over for everyone else at that point).

Next they take all the potatoes from the wagon to the house, 100 at a time, but the food never appears in the house inventory. Only the 100 firewood are shown, and zero food. Since all the food has vanished, now it's game over for everyone Tongue

Is this a bug with this Tiny Shack building?

The only mods installed are CC 1.76 and MM 8.01. I loaded MM first but was overwhelmed by the content, so I then added CC, and disabled MM.  Maybe MM is conflicting and I need to completely uninstall it?

Thanks and HNY! Smile

Update:

I removed MM to make sure it wasn't messing up CC.  Just running CC 1.76 with Banished 1.07 now.

I still have the food bugs appear pretty much every time I use the Tiny Shack.

There seems to be 2 bug versions:

1. Vanishing food, when it's carried from wagon to Tiny Shack but the food never appears in the house inventory. Continues until wagon is empty and all food has vanished. (And I've seen this with firewood now too.)

2. Perpetual food loop, where they carry food to the Tiny Shack but it never appears in the house inventory, and then they go back to the wagon with the same basket held sideways, and replace the food in the wagon and immediately pick it up again to repeat the loop to the house. Often several of them are seen doing this never-ending loop. Can see the house inventory doesn't change, while the wagon inventory oscillates up and down as they loop.

The screenshot shows version 2. In this case 25 firewood has vanished. 4 of them are seen looping between the wagon and the house. The house inventory is frozen at 75 firewood / 100 food, and the wagon food oscillates up and down in the 600s to 700s.

I also tried the Log house, Rustic house, and the regular wooden house.  None of them seem to show these bugs.

All "tests" used the same game settings and map key.

That's odd. Did you restart a clean game after removing MM? Or is it a tiny shack that was created while you still had both?

Most likely it's due to the fact that the tiny shack's inventory is pretty limited, and your people are carrying more than it can hold. They should be bringing it back, it shouldn't vanish.

Hi Vrayna, yes all these tests were with new games (not save games), with the same map seed and settings.

I don't know the storage limits of the houses. I agree, if there is a limit then the food and firewood shouldn't just vanish, nor should the people get stuck in a loop forever.

It's such a game-breaking bug that I'm surprised others haven't reported it. I don't know what would make my installation unique. It's 1.07 from GoG and CC 1.76 from the Google Drive link on this site. Running on Windows 10 64-bit.

If it's accurate, this site says the max storage of the Tiny Shack is 400. I'm seeing the bug occur at numbers well below that.

Is the Banished version 1.0.7 build 170910 ?

There's something really odd going on, I can't seem to reproduce that bug on my side. People bring food to the shack then go on and do whatever they have to do. There is food "vanishing" from the storage, but it's being eaten by the homeless people (as long as people have no houses, they'll eat directly from whatever barn/market is around), not being carried away.

Yes, same version. Downloaded from GoG.  Are there differences between the GoG code and Steam?

I encounter the bug in about 80-90% of the tests with the Tiny Shack.

Maybe I can try a complete uninstall / reinstall?

Okay it turns out the bug survives a save/reload cycle as well.  Attached is a save game where 25 firewood instantly vanished at the Tiny Shack, all the firewood has been taken from the wagon, and 4 villagers are stuck in a food loop with the wagon.

When the game is loaded the food loop will end momentarily as the villagers empty their baskets back into the wagon. Then after a short break they begin carrying food to the Tiny Shack again and get caught in another never-ending food loop with the wagon.

It will be interesting to see what happens with this save game on someone else's installation. The only mod I have installed is CC 1.76.

Cheers for that save. I'll have a look when I can. Tomorrow's going to be a busy day!

Haha thanks, much appreciated! Smile

I've now reproduced the Tiny Shack food loop in MM 8.01 as well, so it's consistent across both mod packs. (I disabled CC 1.76 during the MM test.)

I wonder if the bug is related to the small margin between the Tiny Shack's 3 pop limit and the 400 inventory limit? On initial build I've seen up to 5 homeless move in.  Their inventory demand can be greater the building limit.  Also if each can carry 100 cargo, they can have more cargo in transit than the building can hold. So maybe the code bugs out and either vanishes it upon delivery, or causes a perpetual return/re-carry loop from the wagon?

I tried to find another small house that I could test that is similar to the Tiny Shack's 3/400 limits, but there doesn't seem to be any.  (The building list at https://www.silisoftware.com/tools/banis...r/building appears to be a bit out of date.) I tried the Small Log Tent from the DS set in MM 8.01; its limits are 3/550.  I couldn't reproduce the bug with that one.
