No it shouldn't make any difference.
I remember seeing something like this before. Did you re-position the UV map of the leaves so that the center of the square is over 0,0, and only the top 1/4 of the square is on the checkered map?

thats sad i didnt made it at 100% correct. i had big project for it (like grass disappearing under ground in winter and restart to grow back in spring....)
you gave me alot of hope !

This is what the model now looks like..... tiny tiny leaves!! The large faces are the branches.

Although, I seem to have also made the branches disappear in winter too, for some reason they wont remain. I tried changing their material but it just caused a crash. I'll have to look into this more.

In UV channel 3, I scaled the leaves down by .5 (50 %) but kept them in the same position so the center is at 0,0.
